My Story
I am a senior graphic designer in New York.
A native of South Korea, I have studied graphic and industrial design both there and in the United States. After completing courses in Design History, Art History, Color Theory, Package Design, Figure Drawing, Typography and Visual Identity, among others, I worked in Seoul as a graphic designer for 2 years before relocating to New York City to pursue further studies.
Since moving to New York in 2008, I have expanded my professional toolkit while studying Multimedia Programming and Interface Design. I have grown a lot, studying the English language and American culture, and this is reflected in my design choices.
If Iām not working I like to watch movies, listen to music, dance, experience different cultures, travel, and visit museums. I believe all of these activities inspire my art, design, and ultimately my life.
I also love people, their differences and similarities. Varieties in culture, environment, race, and religion create diversity, and I believe it it is just this diversity that allows for creativity in thought and action. To effectively communicate, a designer must understand people universally, what motivates and inspires them. What affects and moves them. People, I believe, are most often the inspiration behind successful designs.
Design Philosophy
I design all shapes, types and sizes of graphic art. When I am working on a project, creativity has always been key to developing and maintaining a conceptual thread.
But I believe efficiency is important too. The design process must achieve a well-defined goal, with an innovative,
original, sophisticated outcome. I have passion and confidence in my designs, and my approach is adaptable to my design users needs.
Designing is the most beautiful, satisfying work that I do.
